The GLBT HISTORICAL SOCIETY honored the Louise Lawrence Transgender Archive with a featured article about our transgender scrapbooks in their 2021 annual report. The scrapbook were compiled by a trans woman named Denise in the 1960s and 1970s. They include hundreds of clippings and dozens of photographs of the founding mothers of the contemporary trans community.
- You can read their article online here.
- On our site you can learn how we uncovered Denise’s identity.
- And four of the six scrapbooks are available on the DIGITAL TRANSGENDER ARCHIVE.
